Looking for new playground ideas?

Would you like to expand or redesign a playground? We would be happy to support you! Thanks to decades of experience, we know how playgrounds and leisure areas of all kinds are designed sensibly and how they are used. Our planning is always centered around our philosophy - Seeing the world through the eyes of children!

An important part, if not the most important of child development, is playing. Motor, cognitive and social skills are learned and trained while playing, one's own body awareness, spatial awareness and risk assessment are promoted. This knowledge and our experience form the basis for our know-how.

Another important component of excellent play equipment is the use of high-quality materials and excellent workmanship. A resource-saving and sustainable use of raw materials is important to us.

Safety and play value go hand in hand in our planning. That is why we get all catalogue products tested and certified by an independent, accredited institute in accordance with the requirements of the European playground equipment standard EN 1176.

Every playground planning begins with an intensive exchange with our customer to find out what is important and what special requests there are. In accordance to the existing budget, we then plan your playground with the latest 3D technology and are happy to put the plan into action.

Here are some examples of playground ideas.

Frequently asked questions about playground planning
How much space does play equipment need?
For publicly accessible playground equipment, safety areas are required in addition to the equipment. At OBRA, these are dimensioned in the floor plan for each product in the product data sheets and the net fall protection area is indicated in the pictogram. The safety areas are also specified in the dwg files in the download.
Which standards is the planning of public playgrounds subject to?
ÖNORM B 2607 is used for the design of public playgrounds.
Is a building permit required for playground equipment?
Usually not. In the case of larger facilities or playgrounds, however, this must be clarified with the building authorities on site
Do you need a foundation for playground equipment?
Yes. Children's play equipment must not be set up freely. The foundation dimensions and the amount of concrete are precisely specified in the assembly instructions.
Are playground equipment on stands?
Yes, most of OBRA's playground equipment is supplied with elevations. Robinia tools, on the other hand, can be concreted in directly due to the high natural durability of robinia.
Which standards is the planning of public play equipment subject to?
Playground equipment must be planned according to EN1176 part 1-6. Part 7 is for installation, inspection and maintenance.
Does the terrain have to be level for play equipment?
Playground equipment is set up on level ground. Exceptions are cable cars and cross-country slides. Height differences can be planned in an attractive way between the individual play areas.
What do you have to pay attention to when locating slides?
The outlet direction should be turned towards north or east to avoid heating up in summer.
Where are safety areas not allowed to overlap?
With slide exits and exercise devices (forced movement).
